Calgary's story is one of western spirit, resilience, and boundless energy. What began as a modest timber fort evolved into a global economic powerhouse. The city's ability to rebuild after the Great Fire of 1886 and rally together during the 2013 floods demonstrates a unique, unbreakable community bond. Today, Calgary stands as a global energy hub, a gateway to the Rocky Mountains, and a beautifully diverse city that continues to build toward the future.
We acknowledge that Calgary sits on the traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta. This includes the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut'ina First Nation, and the Îyârhe Nakoda (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations).
